Government announces painful and unavoidable cuts

The figures are enormous and the effects will hurt, but the government says that the consequences of not making dramatic public spending cuts will be worse than taking substantial pain now.

Paul Mason analyses what the government is planning and Labour's claims that the cuts risk throwing Britain into a double-dip recession.
