How much did the Pope know about abuse priest?

Pope Benedict XVI has been accused of failing to act against a US priest accused of abusing up to 200 deaf boys two decades ago. Archbishops had complained about Fr Lawrence Murphy in 1996 to a Vatican office led by the future pope, but apparently received no response.

Newsnight's Kirsty Wark talks to Jeff Anderson, an attorney representing some of the alleged victims, and the former mayor of Boston, Ray Flynn, who was US ambassador to the Vatican between 1993 and 1997, about how much the Pope knew.

Broadcast on Thursday 26 March 2010.
