The work and legacy of JD Salinger

American novelist JD Salinger, author of classic 20th Century book The Catcher in the Rye, has died aged 91.

Gavin Esler is joined by the novelists Will Self and Jay McInerney to debate Salinger's influence. Esler begins by asking Jay McInerney if he remembered the first time he read Catcher In The Rye and what it meant to him then.
