Should we fight on in Afghanistan?

Newsnight's Gavin Esler is joined in a discussion about the war in Afghanistan by Security Minister Lord West and three critics of British engagement there - Joan Humphreys, whose grandson Private Kevin Elliott was killed in the war, Sunday Times journalist Christina Lamb and former Nato commander in Bosnia Colonel Bob Stewart.

The discussion came in the wake of a key speech by Prime Minister Gordon Brown in which he defended the mission and a debate in the House of Lords in which the prime minister's support for British troops in Afghanistan was questioned by former defence chiefs.
