What happened to evidence based policy making?

The home secretary Alan Johnson has said that he sacked Professor David Nutt, the government's chief drugs adviser, because he crossed the line between giving advice and campaigning for a policy.

Jeremy Paxman is joined by Colin Blakemore, the former Chief Executive of the Medical Research Council and by the former Conservative Trade and Industry Secretary Lord Young to debate what the future implications could be for scientists and government ministers.
