Observer has 'important and viable role'

The world's oldest Sunday newspaper could be facing closure. Following speculation that the owners of the Guardian Media Group were considering axing The Observer, the chief executive sent staff an email confirming a review of their strategy in an age where there is huge structural change and a massive migration to online.

Kirsty Wark is joined by the former editor of The Observer (1975-93) Donald Trelford and former Times editor Sir Howard Evans (1967-81) to discuss the future of the Guardian Media Group's Sunday newspaper.
