Buzz Aldrin answers your questions

Buzz Aldrin talks to BBC Newsnight's Kirsty Wark

On Thursday 2 July Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin gave Newsnight his first UK interview marking the 40th anniversary of the first lunar landing.

We asked you to suggest questions for us to ask Dr Aldrin and we received well over 1,000 questions as a result.

Thank you very much for the fantastic response.

We read each one of your e-mails and your questions informed Kirsty Wark's entire interview.

We also selected some specific questions to put directly to the legendary moonwalker.

Two questions - whether he and Neil Armstrong would have aborted the mission if Houston had ordered them too in the last seconds of their landing attempt and how he adjusted to daily life when he returned - were broadcast and can be seen in the interview above.

The other questions and answers are available to watch below.

Who is your favourite astronaut?

What was your vision for space 40 years ago?

Who are the unsung heroes of space exploration?

What separates astronauts from the average joe?
