Woman wearing veil

Presented by Gavin Esler

Lifting the Veil

We'll lead tonight with the extraordinary allegation that Britain's most wanted man managed to slip out of this country using his sister's passport and wearing a niqab. Could it really have happened? We already know that government figures on those entering this country are - to put it politely - somewhat shaky. Do we really have not a clue who comes and goes?

Bungs

Lord Stevens has published his report into allegations of corruption in football. It looks like a no-score draw with the possibility of being settled by penalties. Is the game really clean? Or did he fail to get to the bottom of it?

Merry Christmas

The newspapers in recent weeks have contained a number of stories about political correctness destroying Christmas. Often these stories have been - shall we say - not entirely credible. But a new group, the Manifesto Club, has actually done some real work putting together more credible evidence on the same subject.

Their report is called "How the Child Protection Industry Stole Christmas" and it questions, among other things, whether criminal record checks on Santa or banning photography at school Nativity plays really protect anyone. They let me out of the office for a few hours to try to find out.

Science

Our reporter turned science student Stephen Smith has been sitting his mock physics A level. We'll be following his progress, if any.

Oh My News Night

And we have another finalist from the "Oh My Newsnight" competition. This one is about being on the dole.
