As I am writing this we are hearing the first reports of the terrible carnage caused by what appears to be a series of coordinated bomb attacks in Mumbai.

Syd Barrett was the flawed genius behind the Pink Floyd in the very beginning, but his problems became so bad that, famously, the band just "forgot" to pick him up for a gig.

He has lived as a recluse for years. He died last Friday.
