DETAILS OF TONIGHT'S PROGRAMME

From Gavin Esler:

Can Kennedy continue?

Is Charles Kennedy preparing to join fellow MP George Galloway in the Big Brother house?

After his astonishing admission last night that he is a recovering alcoholic, Mr Kennedy seems determined to hang on to his job as leader of the Lib Dems.

Others, however, think differently.

With his political career twisting in the wind we'll be assessing whether Mr Kennedy can indeed survive.

Ariel Sharon

In Israel they have been writing the political obituaries of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as the big man himself clings to life after emergency surgery.

Newsnight's Diplomatic Editor, Mark Urban, is there.

And the last episode of Geek Week.

One of the great amusements around this time of year is listening to otherwise sensible people predicting the future.

What trends will dominate? What inventions and gizmos will catch the eye?

Even funnier is to go back a decade or so and dig up predictions of the past. We've done precisely that.

Whatever did happen to all those predictions about Artificial Intelligence ruling our lives? We've a special report.
