Newsnight's avatar party
After his piece for Geek Week, a variety of citizens of the online world Second Life joined Paul Mason on the Newsnight set, and in our virtual Green Room, to talk about the piece.

We sent a snapper along to record the event.

Not long after the programme started, people began to arrive. Paul welcomed them with something from Newsnight's legendary terrible wine list.

Some were irate that the piece had focused on the sex and gambling side of the online world, which they said was not representative.

The majority appreciated the piece.

After about 30 people arrived Newsnight's bit of the world filled up so apologies to those who could not get in.

A few had signed up right after our broadcast - apparently, Second Life's "help" island was overwhelmed overnight.

After three and a half hours spent online with an interesting mix of avatars, Paul managed to get some peace and quiet...
