FAQs

When can I watch Newsnight?

Newsnight is broadcast every week day from 2230 to 2320 on BBC Two.

Can I watch Newsnight online?

The programme is streamed simultaneously with the UK's BBC Two transmission and is available to view in both narrowband and broadband. The link to the live programme is made available at 2230 on the front page of the Newsnight website. You may need to refresh the page at this time to see the link. The latest edition of the programme remains available to view for 24 hours after its original broadcast (or 72 hours across regular weekends). Links to both the live stream and on-demand versions of the programme can be found at the top right of the Newsnight website.

Newsnight Review is also available to watch live and the latest programme remains available for a full week. Visit the Review website for links.

How can I watch particular Newsnight films or interviews?

At least one highlight from the programme is made available to watch again online, on demand. Links to the latest two highlights are to be found at the top right of the Newsnight homepage. Additionally, an array of recent Newsnight films and interviews are available via their own homepages.

Why is the programme not always available on the internet?

Unfortunately, we are not always able to clear copyright material for the net and cannot stream it online. At the present time, even when the copyrighted material makes up only a short segment of the programme, we nevertheless have to restrict the availability of the whole programme to UK TV only.

Can I get a transcript of items on the programme?

Unfortunately, we don't have the resources to provide transcripts.

Can I get a recording of an item on the programme?

Again, we don't have the resources to provide individual tapes of items on the programme.

Why can't I watch a recording on your website?

If you can't watch any of the recordings, your computer may not have the right software. It is possible to download a basic version of Real Player free from their website.
We do not endorse or provide support for any software application.

How can I get a signed photo of the presenters?

You can make a request via our website's feedback page or write to us at Newsnight, Room G680, BBC TV Centre, Wood Lane, London W12 7RJ.

Newsnight Scotland

If you receive BBC Two Scotland, you'll know that from Monday to Thursday Newsnight Scotland comes on air around 11pm.

The exact on-air time is dictated by the London Newsnight team. The Scottish segment was created in 1999 to make sure the Scottish audience could receive a Newsnight-style coverage of affairs after devolution was introduced.

It's presented by Gordon Brewer and Anne Mackenzie. The team cover all the big public policy stories north of the Border, and lots more.

If you want to see the most recent edition of Newsnight Scotland, click here for a link to the Scotland online news page. On the bottom right hand side you'll find a link to the video replay for BBC Scotland's news programmes.

And if you want to get in touch with the Scottish team directly, email: newsnight.scotland@bbc.co.uk
