Saving and investing: Your questions

Julie Hedge, Ben Yearsley and Gavin Oldham
BBC Radio 4's Money Box Live
Wednesday 9 September 2009 at 1502 BST on Radio 4 and online

In this first Money Box Live of the new series Vincent Duggleby took your questions about saving and investing and put them to a panel of expert guests.

The Bank of England base rate has remained at 0.5% since the last cut in March but with interest rates on savings accounts creeping up you may want to review your finances.

Which banks and building society accounts and ISAs are offering the best interest rates?

How much can you invest in an ISA and can you switch?

Or perhaps you have an interest in the stock market?

How do you determine risk and what are the costs of investing?

Is the recent good performance of some stocks and sectors likely to continue?

Whatever your question, Vincent Duggleby and guests were here to offer advice.

Vincent was joined by:

  • Gavin Oldham, chief executive, The Share Centre
  • Julie Hedge, IFA, Conforto
  • Ben Yearsley, investment manager, Hargreaves Lansdown

Presenter: Vincent Duggleby
Producer: Diane Richardson
