Tax can be a complicated business. A committee of MPs recently said that taxpayers should be given more help to understand and fill in their tax forms.

To add to the pressure, the deadline for paper returns is now 31 October 2008, though the deadline for online filing will still be 31 January 2009.

And following an increase in the basic personal allowance to compensate for the loss of the 10p tax band, basic rate tax payers will benefit from a tax saving of approximately 120.

Will you benefit from the change?

How can you check your personal allowance and your tax code?

Maybe you would like advice about the new self assessment deadlines or filling in your return?

What is the procedure for reclaiming tax if you've overpaid?

Whatever you wanted to know, a panel of experts was here to give you advice about saving and investing.

Vincent Duggleby was joined by:

• John Whiting, tax partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers
• Jane Moore, tax faculty technical manager, Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)

Presenter: Vincent Duggleby
