Just days before Home Information Packs were due to become compulsory it is all change - again.

On Tuesday - and in the face of an unprecedented legal challenge from surveyors - the government announced both a delay and a change in the requirements.

What do the latest developments mean for sellers?

Bank charges

Lloyds TSB cashpoints
Lloyds TSB is the first bank to have won a charges case in court

Banks are being criticised by customers trying to reclaim their overdraft charges who say they are being told in letters to drop their cases in the light of a recent court case where a judge found in favour of Lloyds TSB.

Yorkshire Clydesdale bank has sent the entire 14 page judgement to some customers and told them it is confident their claims will not succeed.

Consumer groups have criticised the banks' approach. Bob Howard reported.

Best-buy tables

Mr Lazenby thinks the best buy tables are being manipulated
A building society chief has launched an attack on the "best buy" tables published to help people choose the right place for their savings.

Pick up any money supplement and you will see them, they have been going for years, but the suggestion now is that the tables are being manipulated to such an extent by the financial services companies that there needs to be a code of practice to protect consumers.

We spoke to Mike Lazenby, chief executive of the Kent Reliance Building Society, and Andrew Haggar of comparison website Moneyfacts.

A Body Shop store
The Body Shop is one example of a big name franchise store

Some of the high street's biggest names are franchised businesses.

That means individuals with enough money can pay to operate under a firm's name and hopefully develop another successful branch.

In total, the franchise sector is now worth almost £11bn and according to the British Franchising Association, it is more popular than ever.
