MPs are to vote on the future of Home Information Packs on 16 May after the Conservatives forced a debate on the issue.

This follows a highly critical report from a House of Lords committee which said opposition to the packs was "striking" and "widespread".

The government has defended its plans and said the groups that gave evidence had vested interests and were resistant to change.

From 1 June all sellers in England and Wales must have the packs containing deeds, searches and an energy performance certificate.

On Money Box on Saturday, we spoke to shadow housing minister Michael Gove and Minister for Housing and Planning Yvette Cooper.

Staff at Marks and Spencer have been warned they may be at risk of identity crime after the theft of a laptop.

Salary details, addresses, dates of birth, national insurance and phone numbers were on the machine which was stolen from a printing firm.

M&S has told BBC Radio 4's Money Box that 26,000 present employees in its final salary pension scheme are at risk if the data is accessed by criminals.

It is offering free credit checks to the people affected.

Money Box has been investigating and we spoke to Ed Mayo, chief executive of the National Consumer Council.

Shared Appreciation Mortgages

A man with his head in his hands
Thousands of people found themselves trapped, unable to move
There may be fresh hope for some of the thousands of people unable to move home because of a deal they did with their bank 10 years ago.

Shared Appreciation Mortgages were offered by Bank of Scotland and Barclays in the late 1990s.

Under the deal, customers have to give their lender 75% of the increase in the value of the property when they sell.

Barclays has now said it will help customers who are suffering hardship as a result of the way the mortgage works. Bob Howard reported.

All six of the major energy suppliers have announced a reduction in their prices following price cuts by EDF Energy and Scottish Power.

But consumer groups are angry at what they say is too little too late and are calling for the regulator to investigate.

We spoke to Ofgem chief executive Alistair Buchanan and Karen Darby of Simply Switch.
