Wills: Your questions
Mike Warburton, Jan Wright, and Tony Wilson make up our expert panel
Mike Warburton, Jan Wright, and Tony Wilson are Monday's experts

BBC Radio 4's Money Box was broadcast on Monday, 8 November, 2004 at 1502 GMT.

Less than 50% of us have an up-to-date will and only 3% realise that without one, the state will decide what to do with your assets.

If you are one of those who has been putting off the deed, Money Box Live had lots of practical advice about how to go about it.

You may be wondering if you have to use a solicitor. And what happens if you are not married?

What if you do not want to leave money for your family but want to leave some to charity?

And can you challenge a will after someone's death?

On Monday's programme, Vincent Duggleby took your questions on wills and put them to a panel of expert guests.

We were joined by:

  • Anthony Wilson, senior partner, Ashley Wilson Solicitors
  • Mike Warburton, Grant Thornton
  • Jan Wright, Cartmell Shepherd solicitors

For the month of November, nearly 2,000 solicitors throughout the UK are offering to waive their fee to draw up a will, in return for a donation to charity.

There is also a hotline number to find your local Will Aid participating solicitor 0870 6060239

A programme transcript will normally appear within a couple of days of the broadcast.

    Producer: Samantha Washington
    Presenter: Vincent Duggleby
