Our experts can help you to get the best deal

BBC Radio 4's Money Box Live was broadcast on Monday, 25 October, 2004 at 1500 BST.

On Monday's Money Box Live Paul Lewis took your questions on credit and borrowing.

Money Box listeners who wanted to know how to find the best deals for borrowing, were wondering how best to reduce the amount they owe, put questions to a panel of experts we selected to give unbiased advice.

We were joined by:

  • Stuart Glendinning, MoneySupermaket.com
  • John Fairhurst, Payplan
  • Geeta Varma, Consumer Credit Counselling Service

Addendum: Since 1 September, 2004, all outstanding student loans can not be written off in bankruptcy. They remain the responsibility of the former student to repay within the terms of the loan arrangement.

If you were made bankrupt before 1 September, 2004, you may still have to repay your student loan. Clarification should be requested from the Official Receiver who is dealing with your affairs.
