Some endowment victims are facing more disappointment

Money Box has revealed another group of people who cannot get compensation for mortgage endowment mis-selling.
Some people are being rejected by the Financial Ombudsman Service as they bought policies from companies that did not go on to become regulated by the PIA in the early nineties.
We heard from one affected listener, and asked the Financial Ombudsman Service to explain why it cannot help people in her position.
Louise Hanson of the Consumers Association also joined us to explain what can be done.

Pension compensation hope for thousands
Thousands of workers from many different companies have suffered

The Department for Work and Pensions is to consider a proposal to help thousands of people whose company pension schemes have been wound up.
Work and Pensions Secretary Andrew Smith met representatives of former steelwork company ASW and pensions expert Ros Altmann on Tuesday to discuss the ideas.
The proposal would help those who will not benefit from the government's pension protection plan as it will not apply retrospectively.
Our reporter Penny Haslam was in Whitehall to meet the protestors and Ros Altmann joined us to talk about the plan that was put to Andrew Smith.

Watchdog to launch store card inquiry
Regulation and competition in the market will be looked at

The Office of Fair Trading is launching an inquiry into store cards, following criticism from MPs.
John Vickers of the UK's trading watchdog, spoke of "unsatisfactory practices" in the market and intends to look at regulation and whether there is sufficient competition.
We were joined by John McFall, Chairman of the Treasury Select Committee which gave OFT director John Vickers such a hard time.

If you have just become eligible for Winter Fuel Allowance and would like it paid before Christmas, you have one week left to apply.
Most people do not have to claim it, but anyone who reached 60 recently, or who has not had a payment in the past should claim.
