Pension protection

Andrew Smith MP
Andrew Smith, Secretary for Work and Pensions, announced plans for the Pensions Protection Fund
Money Box asked whether government plans to protect our company pensions will work.

In June the government announced that it would introduce a Pensions Protection Fund to safeguard the final salary pensions of workers whose companies go bust.

The new scheme will be modelled on one already established in the United States.

But Money Box has discovered some serious problems in the way it works there.
