Legal Latin

BBC Radio 4's Law in Action was broadcast on Tuesday, 31 January, 2006 at 1600 GMT.

Do you know your pro bono from your caveat emptor? Your de minimis from your ad idem? If so, you are probably a fan of legal Latin.

But if that was all Greek to you, you might want Latin banished from the courts, and some plain English inserted. And some senior judicial authorities would agree.

Former professor of Classics Peter Jones, and barrister Hazel Williamson explain their passion for retaining Latin in the courtroom.
