What comes to mind when you think about the law in China? Poor human rights? Large numbers receiving the death penalty? Amnesty International estimate that 2500 people were executed in 2001.

However, with economic reform continuing apace, there is real evidence that China's legal system is changing. Clive Coleman spoke to Andrew Halper, a partner at the law firm Eversheds and the head of their China business group, and asked him if this was genuine legal reform.
