Marikana 'highlights' inequality in South Africa

It has become known as the "Marikana massacre" - 34 people were killed as police in South Africa opened fire on striking miners last August.

For Frans Baleni, the leader of the country's main miners' union the NUM, Marikana is a challenge to the whole post-apartheid political system.
