Tim Rice: I was told Evita and Superstar would fail

When the British lyricist Sir Tim Rice wrote the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar and musical Evita with Andrew Lloyd Webber he was told both would be failures - but in each case they proved to be lucrative successes.

Sir Tim tells HARDtalk's Gavin Esler why some were sceptical at the time and recalls the rough ride given to Evita when it opened in New York because of its controversial subject matter.
