David Hare: Writing 'has now become my life'

Best known as a prolific and award-winning playwright, Sir David Hare is also an Oscar-nominated screenwriter - for The Hours in 2002 and The Reader in 2008.

Bill Nighy and Rachel Weisz star in his new spy thriller, Page Eight, his first original screenplay in 20 years.

Nighy plays a long-serving M15 officer who is forced to quit his job in order to find the truth behind a mystery file which threatens its stability.

Stephen Sackur spoke to David Hare about his career and the difficulties that writers face.
