Michael Nazir-Ali was until recently one of the highest profile serving bishops within the Church of England.
He abruptly relinquished his post last year but he remains a hugely influential conservative voice in the established church.
Within Britain he argues for the reaffirmation of society's Christian roots; beyond Britain he is committed to helping Christian minority communities in Muslim nations.
