In a HARDtalk interview broadcast on 26th May 2009, Stephen Sackur talks to Debbie Purdy, a campaigner for assisted suicide.

Debby Purdy has devoted much of her recent life fighting for the right to what she calls a dignified death.

She has multiple sclerosis - an incurable disease which is steadily eroding her physical capacities.

She wants the right to die at the time and in the manner of her own choosing and wants her husband to be able to help her, without fear of prosecution.

While she has won much sympathy, Stephen Sackur asks if she is right.

Hardtalk is shown on the BBC World News at 0330 (except Middle East, South Asia and Asia Pacific), 0830, 1430, 2030 and 2230 GMT (except Middle East and South Asia)

HARDtalk is also broadcast on the BBC News channel at 0230, 0430 & 2330
