In a programme first broadcast on Wednesday May 13th, Stephen Sackur talks to Irakli Alasania, leader of the Opposition Party "Alliance for Georgia."

Opposition parties in Georgia are demanding President Saakashvili's resignation.

They charge him with failing to deliver democracy, monopolising power, undermining the judiciary, and repressing the media.

They say he walked into a war last year in South Ossetia that Georgia could not possibly have won.

President Saakashvili accuses them of causing political chaos and plotting armed insurrection in collusion with Russia.
