In a HARDtalk interview broadcast on 9 January, Stephen Sackur speaks to a senior member of Hamas based in Beirut, Osama Hamdan.

Gaza has become a battlefield with mounting civilian casualties as Israeli forces push on with Operation Cast Lead.

The international community is calling for a ceasefire while Israel is demanding that Hamas stop firing rockets across the border.

Is Hamas now prepared to do what it takes to end the fighting?
