In a HARDtalk interview broadcast on 22 September, Stephen Sackur talks to the US ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency, Gregory Schulte.

Iran's nuclear ambitions are giving the international community a headache that will not go away.

According to leaked reports the nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has been blocked in efforts to investigate Tehran's past work on nuclear weapons.

The western powers are calling for new UN sanctions.

Gregory Schulte is the US ambassador to the IAEA.

Is there any realistic prospect of diverting Iran from its nuclear path?

HARDtalk is broadcast on BBC World News at 03:30 GMT, 08:30 GMT, 14:30 GMT, 20:30 GMT and 22:30 GMT

HARDtalk can also be seen on BBC News at 04:30 BST & 23:30 BST
