In a HARDtalk interview broadcast on 18th August, Allan Little talks to the General Secretary of the Public and Commercial Services Union.

Britain's economy is feeling the effects of the global economic downturn and thousands are facing the prospect of job losses.

As inflation continues to rise public sector trade unions are demanding their members receive pay rises to match.

The government is determined to limit any increases to below inflation rates.

Mark Serwotka is the General Secretary of the Public and Commercial Services union.

With Britain on the brink of recession, will the action of his members plunge the nation into a season of strike-fuelled discontent?

HARDtalk is broadcast on BBC World News at 03:30 GMT, 08:30 GMT, 14:30 GMT, 20:30 GMT and 22:30 GMT

Hardtalk can also be seen on BBC News at 04:30 BST & 23:30 BST.
