In a HARDtalk interview first broadcast on 17 January 2008, Stephen Sackur talks to the Kenyan opposition leader, Raila Odinga.

The opposition in Kenya is refusing to lie down and accept the outcome of the presidential election.

And they've now got a significant power-base in the new parliament.

More protests have been called for this week as supporters of the Orange Democratic Movement, or ODM, continue to press their claim that Raila Odinga was elected president.

More than six hundred people have died in post-election and tribal violence.

Last week on Hardtalk, Martha Karua, Kenya's Justice Minister, accused Raila Odinga and members of his party of "ethnic cleansing".

Stephen Sackur asks him for his response.

HARDtalk is broadcast on BBC World at 04:30h GMT, 09:30h GMT, 14:30h GMT, 21:30h GMT and 23:30h GMT.

Hardtalk can also be seen on BBC News 24 at 04:30h & 23:30h.
