John Boorman's new film The Tiger's Tail is set in Ireland
In a Hardtalk Extra programme broadcast on Friday 8 June, Gavin Esler talked to John Boorman, the veteran British film director.

John Boorman is one of
Britain's most successful film directors, responsible for classics like Point Blank, Deliverance and the autobiographical Hope and Glory.

Since the seventies, he has made his home in Ireland, and it is to his adopted country that his latest film, The Tiger's Tail, turns.

He tells Gavin Esler why his film depicts a country gripped by greed, corruption and materialism - and why he still finds it hard to work within the British film industry.

HARDtalk Extra can be seen on BBC World at 0330 GMT, 0830 GMT, 1430 GMT, and 1830 GMT.

It can also be seen on BBC News 24 at 04:30 and 23:30.
