In a Hardtalk Extra programme broadcast on Friday 28th July, Gavin Esler spoke to British actor John Hurt.
John Hurt is one of the leading British actors of his generation, and has made his name on both stage and screen.
Described as having a "face for tragedy", he has used it in leading roles from The Elephant Man to the Naked Civil Servant.
In his latest film Shooting Dogs, he plays a priest caught in the middle of the Rwandan genocide.
Acting alongside many of the survivors of the conflict, he tells Gavin Esler why this was one of the toughest performances of his career.
HARDtalk Extra can be seen on BBC World at 0330 GMT, 0830 GMT, 1430 GMT, 1830 GMT, 2330 GMT.
It can also be seen on BBC News 24 at 04:30 and 23:30.
