So where does that leave Turkish women?
There are plenty of laws on the statute books governing equal rights and justice for those who feel themselves discriminated against. Yet the disparity in opportunities for men and women is huge, according to Ipek Ilkkaracan, and of particular concern is the tradition, still prevalent, of "honour killing".
