Archbishop of York enthroned
Dr John Sentamu, Archbishop of York
Dr John Sentamu, Archbishop of York

In a HARDtalk interview on Thursday 1st December Stephen Sackur talks to Dr John Sentamu.

Dr John Sentamu was today enthroned as the Archbishop of York.

It's the second highest post in the Church of England after that of the spiritual leader, the Archbishop of Canterbury.

His appointment in York comes at a difficult time for the Worldwide Anglican Communion which is still deeply divided over the ordination of an openly homosexual bishop in America two years ago.

Archbishop Sentamu has spoken publicly on a number of contentious issues.

He has demonstrated against the war in Iraq, has been critical of racism in the British police and favours the ordination of women.

His recent comments on multiculturalism in Britain have also sparked a debate.

Stephen Sackur asks him what can be done to unify the Church of England.
