Wes Craven's new film Red Eye tackles terrorism
In a Hardtalk Extra interview broadcast on Friday 9th September, Gavin Esler talks to the film director Wes Craven.

Wes Craven is the world's best known director of horror films.

He brought Freddy Kruger to the big screen, arguably one of the most iconic cinema figures of the late 20th century.

It was an unusual career path for Craven.

He was brought up within a devout Baptist tradition and forbidden from watching any kind of film bar those from Disney.

He studied psychology and went on to lecture at university - perhaps that goes some way to explaining his obsession with fear and the psyche.

HARDtalk Extra can be seen on Fridays on BBC World at 03:30 GMT, 08:30 GMT, 15:30 GMT, 18:30 GMT and 23:30 GMT.

It can also be seen on BBC News 24 at 04:30 and 23:30
