The Iraqi Governing Council was formed in July 2003.
In a HARDtalk interview on June 7th, Tim Sebastian speaks to Adnan Pachachi who turned down the post of Iraqi President in the new Iraqi Interim Government.
Tensions among the Iraqi Governing Council boiled over when veteran diplomat, Adnan Pachachi, turned down the post of Iraqi President in the new interim Government.
Mr Pachachi is considered one of Iraq's elder statesmen and was one of the Council's rotating presidents.
Mr Pachachi pointed to a "shabby conspiracy" among fellow council members, including Ahmed Chalabi, who he accuses of trying to portray him as an American stooge.
However Mr Pachachi hasn't ruled out running for the office of president at elections due to be held in Iraq at the end of this year.
