In July 1944 19-year old Gertraud Weisker joined her cousin Eva Braun at the Berghof - Hitler's retreat in the Bavarian Alps.

For the next six months she stayed with Eva, who was Hitler's mistress, in luxurious surroundings while Germany faced defeat in the Second World War.

Until recently Gertraud Weisker had kept her time at the Berghof a secret.

She says Hitler was never discussed and her time with Eva was marked by loneliness, anxiety and a growing realisation about the true horrors of the war.
