Mobile phone security: how to beat the fraudsters

There was a day when mobile phones did little more than make telephone calls. Now, we use them for everything from shopping online to booking holidays and sending emails.

However, there are warnings that some of the applications we download could be booby-trapped to access our private information like credit card details and pin numbers. So what can we do to protect our mobiles from the attention of hi-tech fraudsters?
