How airlines hope to avoid ash clouds

With the grim experience of last year still fresh in the memory, more eruptions from a volcano in Iceland has had holidaymakers, business travellers and airline bosses waiting with bated breath.

But how much have governments and aviation authorities learnt from before? Not as much as we would like to think reports Rajan Datar, who finds that airlines are looking to take matters into their own hands.
