One billion of us will have been on holiday in 2012, but that figure is heavily skewed toward the planet's richer residents and that has triggered a discussion over whether we should all have the right to travel.
It is enshrined in the universal declaration of human rights and as Rajan Datar reports there's growing impetus for it to be enforced.
