"If we can't sing in harmony it is better we don't appear in Europe," said the head of Serbian TV.

He was speaking after the competition to choose a song to represent Serbia and Montenegro at the Eurovision Song Contest this year ended in allegations of fixing, political interference and a near riot.

In BBC Radio 4's Crossing Continents, Tim Judah takes a musical tour through the Balkans - from Serbia to Montenegro, Kosovo to Bosnia - exploring the regions politics, conflicts and aspirations through the prism of the world's most famous singing competition.

Presenter: Tim Judah
Producer: Emma Rippon
