Caucasus terror fears
Fears of a wider conflict escalated following the Beslan tragedy

BBC Radio 4's Crossing Continents was broadcast on Thursday, 18 November, 2004 at 1100 GMT.

The programme was repeated on Monday, 22 November, 2004 at 2030 GMT.

In the wake of the Beslan school tragedy, Tim Whewell travels to Russia's restive north Caucasus and finds disturbing evidence that terrorism is spreading through the region.

He examines the evidence of links to radical Islam and asks if Russia can contain the threat.
