The Limits of Mercy
Redwing, Minnesota
This sleepy midwest town disguises the reality of Kay Fulton's anguish
Timothy McVeigh killed 168 people in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. Kay Fulton is the sister of one of the victims. She watched McVeigh die by lethal injection and kept an audio diary of her experience.

Kay Fulton witnessed a terrorist bombing. She watched the man responsible die by lethal injection.

She's been to Ground Zero - what used to be the World Trade Centre.

She's seen grief beyond imagination.

Kay Fulton's only brother, Paul Ice, a Federal Customs Agent, was killed in the Oklahoma City bombing.

Ice was one of the 168 who died when American-born terrorist Timothy McVeigh targeted federal employees in his rage against the United States government.

Kay Fulton testified at McVeigh's trial, and won a seat by lottery to view McVeigh's execution.

With American Radio Works, (the documentary project of Minnesota Public Radio and NPR News) Kay Fulton kept an audio diary of her experiences.

This was broadcast across the USA in June 2002.

In August, she brings her story up to date for Crossing Continents.

Crossing Continents: The Limits of Mercy will be broadcast Thursday 22nd August 2002 on BBC Radio 4 at 1100 BST

Repeated on Monday 26th August 2002 on BBC Radio 4 at 2030 BST
