Could the use of social networks swing such a tight US presidential election race this time around?

In 2008, Barack Obama's success was heralded, in part, to his use of the internet to get his message across.

So, does a US election campaign message which fits into 140 characters really matter in the race to the White House? Ian Hardy reports from Boston and New York.
