There was a time not too long ago when audiences expected to wait months for a movie to move from the cinema into the home.
But since 1999, the average window between release has fallen from 27 weeks in 1999 to a current average of 17 weeks and could fall even further - with some companies offering films in the home on the day of cinematic release.
Richard Taylor looks at the businesses looking to close the gap between the cinema and films on-demand in the home.
