Since Japan's devstating earthquake, citizen scientists in the area have purchased many Geiger counters to help monitor radiation levels.

And Usman Hague from Pachube - a site specialising in data infrastructure - talks about the practicalities of such crowdsourcing and whether it is a help or hindrance to the authorities.
