Do bands need the internet to make it big?

The music industry has complained that the internet and piracy are killing music. But are they really? Or is the industry just having trouble adjusting to a changing digital landscape?

The music industry is bigger than it ever has been - and that is excluding the 1.2 billion illegal downloads which occurred last year in the UK alone.

David Reid visited the Midem exhibition in Cannes to discover how bands are using new technology to break into the industry.
