Sir David Frost was joined this morning by the Secretary of State for Defence, Geoff Hoon, former Conservative Chancellor of the Exchequer Kenneth Clarke and the cricketing 'legend' Sir Garfield Sobers.

Rory Bremner also came into the studio to entertain us with more of his impersonations - and Dr Mo Mowlam and Tony Hall, former head of news at the BBC and now Executive Director of the Royal Opera House, helped Sir David with his review of the Sunday newspapers.

Geoff Hoon quashed reports in the Sunday papers today that Brigadier Roger Lane, Commander of the Royal Marines in Afghanistan, was facing the sack. He also confirmed that everything possible is being done to help the troops who have contracted the "winter vomiting bug" and he ended the discussion by confirming that coalition forces are sill determined to track down Osama bin Laden.

Kenneth Clarke, speaking from his constituency in Nottingham, said he believed campaigning for the Euro was of higher priority than securing a future Conservative government. He also said he believed the Prime Minister had still not decided whether or not he would hold a referendum on this issue next year.

During the paper review, Dr Mowlam called again for the legalisation of both ecstasy and cannabis. She said that current proposals, to downgrade ecstasy to a class B drug, was a "halfway" measure that would achieve nothing.
